Online Publications – CSU Extension is chock-full of online publications related to all things horticulture, not limited to topics such as: Vegetables and Herbs, Trees and Shrubs, Water-wise Landscaping/Xeriscaping, and Soils. Publications vary in level of detail – PlantTalk‘s provide the simplest level of detail, whereas GardenNotes and Fact Sheets provide more in-depth information. CSU Extension Jefferson County plant diagnostic services consist of paid staff and volunteers with specialized training in plant problem diagnosis through visual inspection and microscopy. Commercial samples or samples requiring culturing or advanced diagnostic services should be sent to CSU’s Plant Diagnostic Clinic, located at CSU Spur in Denver, CO. Our fees (subject to change) are listed as below:
Physical Diagnosis and Identification:
- Diagnosis: $7/sample, Jefferson County residents; $10/sample, non-resident
- Plant and Insect Identification: $7/species, Jefferson County resident (additional samples $3 each); $10/species, non-resident (additional samples $5/each)
Visual Diagnosis and Identification:
- Diagnosis: No fees
- Plant and Insect Identification: No fees
Lawn problems are the number one concern brought to Colorado State University Extension offices in the counties along the Front Range. As a result, CSU Lawncheck, a service that provides onsite assessment of lawns with recommendations for improving the lawn and solving lawn problems, was born.
