4-H Youth Summer Camp

ENOR Environmental Discovery Camp

Eagle’s Nest Owl’s Roost (ENOR) Environmental Discovery Camp has been getting kids outdoors for 50 years!

Camp days are spent discovering Colorado’s natural and cultural history – while HIKING in a unique local park or open space each day.

ENOR was recognized by Jefferson County Open Space as a pioneer of environmental education and was honored with the Gambel Oak award at the Jefferson County Conservation Awards in 2024. Hear more about our camp and nomination, here – 2024 Conservation Awards – Gambel Oak – ENOR Environmental Discovery Camp (youtube.com)

ENOR’s Distinctive Camp Culture

Distinct from other outdoor summer camps are ENOR’s FOCUS, OUTDOOR ACTIVITY, CARE, AND PARTNERSHIPS.

ENOR’s FOCUS is all about environmental education and youth development, not just recreation. Each day features engaging themes that integrate science, math, history, art, drama, and teamwork, creating a rich learning environment for every camper.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY: Campers hike daily in stunning local parks and open spaces, staying active while building resilience and a love for the outdoors. Each day brings a new adventure as we explore unique locations.

CARE: Campers are assigned to a dedicated educator for the week, fostering meaningful connections and a safe, supportive environment.

PARTNERSHIPS: Our collaboration with community partners brings in experts from various fields, expanding horizons and enriching the camper experience.

ENOR Camp is a licensed day care program, with the State of Colorado.

Program Descriptions

To foster an inclusive environment for all campers, ENOR does not honor friend grouping requests. Forming groups based on friendships can unintentionally lead to cliques, which may exclude others. Our camp program is designed with a mix of small and large group activities throughout the day, ensuring that campers have the chance to connect with both familiar faces and new friends. We appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize creating a welcoming space for everyone.

     Please note:

  • Due to the outdoor venue and physical nature of the program, children must be sighted and ambulatory to attend camp.  There are several hikes that are not suitable for non-sighted children as they are steep with loose rock, posing an accident hazard to the child.  Reasonable accommodations will be made for children with disabilities other than those previously mentioned. Children with specialized medical needs: Instructors are not specifically trained in the care of children with specialized medical needs. If your child has a condition requiring specialized medical attention, please contact the camp coordinator to see if accommodations can be made. Please keep in mind that our primary concern is for the child’s safety.  ENOR complies with the American with Disabilities Act and the Nurse Practice Act.

Scholarship Applications

The purpose of the ENOR Scholarship program is to expand the availability of the ENOR camp experience to children who would not have the means to attend camp otherwise, and to enrich the lives of all campers participating in the program by providing an opportunity to interact with others from different backgrounds. Scholarships are awarded based on economic need, motivation and commitment, and funding.

Keeping ahead of COVID-19

This rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) has imposed an unsettling, fluid situation upon our community and its businesses. While the team here still aims to maintain a “business as usual” approach, we are making a number of significant changes to our operations to account for a situation that is far from normal.
