Jefferson County Family Leadership Training Institute spent Monday, April 23rd at the State Capitol to learn more about our legislative process and meet their elected representatives. Participants have been meeting since January of this year to learn how to make their communities healthy places to live. They have been polishing their public speaking and decision making skills and have been stretching some of their personal beliefs to welcome diverse ideas. Many of the youth in the program are working on anti-bullying efforts and on Monday they watched the Governor sign SB 151, a bill to develop a model bullying prevention and education policy for our schools. They will be graduating as Family Leaders on the RMCAD campus in early June!
